Unhelpful Facebook posts

There is currently a Facebook post circulation advising all people with any respiratory diseases to request a rescue pack from their GP. The need for the rescue packs is based on disease severity +/- multiple exacerbation or hospital admissions. It is not a one size fits all.

  1. Antibiotics don’t work on viruses.
  2. People need to have education on the use of rescue packs.
  3. Demanding medications that you don’t need is the medical equivalent of panic buying toilet rolls and will leave those who actually need these medications, without them.
  4. There is even some data that the use of steroids (prednisolone) may be associated with worse outcomes if infected with the Coronavirus so should be used cautiously.
