There is currently a Facebook post circulation advising all people with any respiratory diseases to request a rescue pack from their GP. The need for the rescue packs is based on disease severity +/- multiple exacerbation or hospital admissions. It is not a one size fits all.
- Antibiotics don’t work on viruses.
- People need to have education on the use of rescue packs.
- Demanding medications that you don’t need is the medical equivalent of panic buying toilet rolls and will leave those who actually need these medications, without them.
- There is even some data that the use of steroids (prednisolone) may be associated with worse outcomes if infected with the Coronavirus so should be used cautiously.
